Application policy

ArkGene privacy and data handling

Effective date: 2 September 2026 Publication status reviewed: 28 September 2026; Store 0.2.0 is available, while Tribe administration is limited to private testing.

This policy describes the ArkGene desktop application published by Xakune. The private development build now includes the limited Tribe administration described below; the published Store 0.2.0 release does not include it. Billing and cloud creature synchronization are not enabled.

Private Tribe administration beta — 23 September 2026

When you create or join a Tribe, Supabase stores the group name, account IDs, membership roles, account-bound invitations, expiry/revocation/acceptance times and minimal audit events. Members can see fellow members' profile names and avatars; owners/leaders can administer invitations and roles. Share your account code only with the intended group administrator. This code identifies your account; accepting an invitation still requires signing in as its recipient. No Discord messages or emails are sent by this interface. Cloud results are held in memory and cleared on sign-out/account change. Local creatures are not uploaded. Audit events omit creature content, emails and invitation token hashes. Their retention follows the Tribe; account/data deletion requests use the support address below. Realtime, billing and public report sharing remain disabled.

Summary

ArkGene is designed as a local-first breeding companion. Creature exports, breeding scenarios, manual stat corrections, import history, selected export folder and custom server profiles stay on the user's Windows device. ArkGene does not currently upload creature exports or breeding plans to ArkGene cloud storage.

ArkGene has no advertising SDK, analytics SDK or sale of personal data.

Data stored locally

The application may store the following on the user's device:

  • normalized creature information read from files the user selects or from a DinoExports folder the user explicitly connects;
  • source-file identity and import history used to detect updates and duplicates;
  • breeding pairs, scenarios, target statistics and manual corrections;
  • custom server names and breeding-rate multipliers;
  • the selected local export-folder path, interface preferences and the current authenticated session.

ArkGene reads connected export files and does not modify the original ARK exports. Local application data can be removed from the application's own controls. A clean-account Windows test confirmed that uninstalling the MSIX removes its package-local library data; the original ARK export files remain outside that package data and are not modified by ArkGene.

Discord sign-in and Supabase

Discord sign-in is optional. When the user starts it, authentication is handled by Discord and Supabase using OAuth 2.0 with PKCE. Discord may provide an account identifier, display name, avatar and email address to Supabase. Supabase stores the authentication account, session information and the ArkGene profile fields needed to display the signed-in user. ArkGene loads an avatar from Discord's CDN when an avatar URL is available.

ArkGene does not receive or store the user's Discord password. Creature exports, breeding scenarios and custom server profiles are not currently synchronized to Supabase. Future Tribe synchronization will require a separate policy update and an explicit release review before it is enabled.

Service providers used for optional sign-in:

  • Discord — identity provider;
  • Supabase — authentication and profile storage.

Their own privacy terms apply to information processed by those services.

Network connections

The current desktop client may connect only to the configured ArkGene Supabase project for authentication, profile access and explicitly used private Tribe administration, Discord for the user-initiated sign-in flow and Discord's CDN for the profile avatar. The application may also load pinned public species-image fallbacks from GitHub when a bundled image is not available. Microsoft Store handles installation and updates of the public release. The custom in-app updater and GitHub binary distribution remain disabled.

Retention and deletion

Local creature and planning data remains on the device until the user removes it or clears the application's local data. Signing out removes the active ArkGene authentication session from the application but does not by itself delete the Discord or Supabase account.

The verified ArkGene privacy and customer-support contact is support@xakune.com. Requests concerning the ArkGene authentication profile or account deletion must be sent through that address. The request may require verification that the requester controls the affected account. Discord account data must be managed through Discord.

Security

Authentication uses encrypted HTTPS connections and PKCE. ArkGene does not put Discord client secrets, Supabase service-role keys, signing keys or private certificate material in the desktop client. No security measure can guarantee absolute protection, so releases remain blocked when required security and package-validation gates have not passed.

Children

ArkGene is a companion utility for an existing game and is not designed to collect children's personal information. The Microsoft Store age-rating and content declarations must be completed accurately before publication.

Changes to this policy

Material changes will be reflected in an updated effective date and release notes. Features that introduce new cloud data, sharing, payments or telemetry must not be enabled publicly before the policy and in-app disclosure are updated.
